Short answer questions designed to help students review for the annual exam and that relate to all-important topics appearing in the Course and Exam Description

Topic 3.2 — Seven Years’ War (The French and Indian War): Six questions that relate to an armed struggle that started in 1754 and that pitted the colonies of British America against those of New France, each side supported by military units from the parent country and by Native American allies.

Topic 3.3— No Taxation Without Representation: Ten questions that relate to a political slogan which expressed the belief of many colonists that they were not represented in the distant British parliament and hence any taxes it imposed on the colonists (such as the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts) were a denial of the colonists’ rights as Englishmen.

Topic 3.4 — Philosophical Foundations of the American Revolution: Twenty-seven questions that relate to the origins and influence of Common Sense and the Declaration of Independence upon American political thought.

Topic 3.5 — The American Revolution: Ten questions that relate to a time period that begins in 1765 and ends in 1783.

Topic 3.6 — The Influence of Revolutionary Ideals: Ten questions that relate to the impact of the lofty ideas that inspired the colonists to revolt in 1776.

Topic 3.7 — Articles of Confederation: Six questions that relate to a document that sought to establish a “firm league of friendship” between and among the 13 states and that served as the first constitution of the United States of America.

Topic 3.8 — The Constitutional Convention: Fifteen questions that relate to a gathering of “demigods” in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1787.

Topic 3.9 — The Constitution: Ten questions that relate to a document that contains “a bundle of compromises” and serves as the supreme law of the land.
